Hello and welcome to my personal webpage! My name is Benjamin Smith and I am currently a E-Commerce Strategist at ROI Revoltuion in Raleigh, NC. I created this website to share my stories, travels, and ambitions as I continue to build my personal and professional story. My mission in life is to connect people, never stop learning, and ultimately make the world a better community through the continuous improvement and expansion of my network and skillset.
A native of North Carolina, Benjamin Smith attended East Carolina University for Viola under the teaching of Melissa Reardon and Ara Gregorian. While at East Carolina, Benjamin was selected to be a member of the Four Seasons Next Generation Artist Ensemble- a prestigious group of East Carolina musicians that conduct a chamber music concert tour of North Carolina and Virginia twice a year. During these tours, Next Generation Artists collaborate with world renowned classical musicians in order to produce chamber music concerts open to the public, coordinate public school residencies, and mentor and recruit talented high school musicians on behalf of the university who are interested in careers in the arts.
An avid chamber musician, Benjamin has performed across the United States and Europe including numerous appearances in New York City, the Midwest, and a concert tour of Italy. Recent US appearances include The Beethoven Institute at the New School in New York City, Madeline Island Chamber Music Institute in Wisconsin, Britt Chamber Music Festival in Oregon, The North Carolina School of the Arts, High Peaks Chamber Music Festival in Hunter NY, and the Garth Newel Music Center in Hot Springs VA.
Through the intimacy of chamber music, Benjamin has performed and collaborated with world renowned classical musicians such as Hagai Shaham, Ida Kavafian, Xiao-Dong Wang, Melissa Reardon, Hye-Jin Kim, Philip Setzer and Paul Watkins of the Emerson String Quartet, Ara Gregorian, Raman Ramakrishnan, and many more.
In May 2016, Benjamin received his Master's in Music after attending Stony Brook University on full scholarship under the tutelage of Lawrence Dutton, founding member of the Emerson String Quartet. In his free time, Benjamin enjoys reading, staying up to date on current events, attending concerts, cooking, and playing soccer with friends.
